Engagement sessions are probably my favorite portraits to capture! They offer couples a unique chance to celebrate their love before the big day & to get to know me and how I direct them into poses to showcase their love and personalities! Choosing the right location can make all the difference & can showcase their love story! I found a "secret" location right in the middle of Branson, maybe 10 minutes from Branson 76 Strip! The natural beauty of the Ozark mountains is in the background, along with open spaces, wildflowers, and soft light creating an ideal setting for your session!

Why Choose Branson MO for an Engagement Session

Branson is known for its natural charm and scenic views. Beyond the entertainment and attractions, the surrounding countryside offers quiet, picturesque spots perfect for photography. The fields near Branson feature rolling hills, tall grasses, and wildflowers that change with the seasons, giving each session a unique character. This couple are actually from Michigan and wanted to have their engagement photos taken while on vacation here!

  • Natural Light: The wide-open spaces allow photographers to use natural light creatively, especially during golden hour.

  • Privacy: Unlike busy urban settings, these fields provide privacy and comfort, helping couples relax and be themselves.

  • Versatility: The landscape works well for both casual and formal engagement photos, with plenty of room for movement and different poses. They chose to only have 1 outfit, but I always recommend having 2, 1 casual, and the other a little more dressier!

Planning the Perfect Engagement Session in a Field!

Preparation is key to making the most of an outdoor engagement session. Here are some practical tips for couples and photographers planning a shoot in Branson’s fields.

Timing Matters

The best time for outdoor photos is usually early morning or late afternoon. The soft, warm light during these times enhances skin tones and adds depth to images. Avoid midday when the sun is harsh and shadows are strong.

What to Wear

Choosing outfits that complement the natural surroundings helps create cohesive photos. Earth tones, soft pastels, and simple patterns work well. Avoid bright colors that clash with the landscape or busy prints that distract from the couple.

Bring Props and Accessories

Simple props can add personality and fun to the session. Consider items like:

  • A cozy blanket for sitting shots

  • A bouquet of wildflowers (you can pick them in the field too)

  • A vintage bicycle or picnic basket

  • Hats or scarves that add texture and movement

Prepare for the Weather

Missouri weather can be unpredictable. Check the forecast and have a backup plan in case of rain. Bring sunscreen, water, and insect repellent to stay comfortable during the shoot! We are having a tick infestation this summer! Taking a shower after your shoot is essential!

One more thing, bring a pair of flip flops so that walking to our next location won't be hard in your heels ladies! Lip gloss, a fan, and face powder help you

keep looking your best during the shoot!

Capturing Authentic Moments in a Natural Setting

The open fields encourage couples to interact naturally. Photographers can guide them through simple activities that bring out genuine smiles and emotions.

  • Walking hand-in-hand through tall grass

  • Sitting together on a blanket, sharing a quiet moment

  • Spinning or dancing in the open space

  • Whispering or sharing a laugh

These candid moments often become the most treasured photos!

Making the Most of Your Engagement Photos

After the session, couples can use their photos like this:

  • Save-the-date cards

  • Wedding websites

  • Guestbook displays

  • Wall art for their home

These images become a lasting reminder of the excitement and love leading up to the wedding day.
